stillen (same shifter I see), and could not understand why some didnt have the same problem and others did. I started thinking there were more than one version. Eventually the bushings gave out. So I replaced with bronze. Initially I reinstalled it way too tight and had to wrestle it, so I went back and loosened it about one full turn. PERFECT. Shifts great, no trace of the previous notchiness. There were times when it felt like I could not get it into gear or it clacked its way in. I am of the belief now that the bolt was not secured tight enough, possibly causing accelerated wear on the plastic bushings, but more importantly resulting in a notchy shifter feel as the "T" between the linkage fork was too loose. Tweak it, I am literally talking about 1/4 to 1/2 turns here. Or try what I did, bronze bushings, overtightened to the point of excessively difficult forward/aft motion, then loosen bolt 1 full turn.
